What: Starscream is going to lurk around and see if he can nab anything useful for his own personal gain.

Starscream had to admit he was almost impressed at the large selection of products held within the marketplace. Of course, it was probably only natural considering all the various species who lived here. This made things both interesting and difficult.

He's going to have to get a bit creative when it comes to parts that he needs. Which actually wasn't the difficult part ... what was difficult is the financial side of things. He could barter like the best of them, but he had a feeling he's going to have to resort to some unethical methods for some stuff.

Not that he'd do it personally, but he could probably manipulate someone around the station. Already that Loki kid needed his help, so perhaps in return ...

Well, he'd have to think on that.

For now he decided he'd wander the various booths and sections to see what kind of energy sources are readily available.

And then he stops to stare at some fuzzy looking animals of a species he never saw before. They were round and had no facial features whatsoever. So maybe scientific curiosity got the best of him. And maybe he might have accidentally knocked a random organic into the cage just to see if the creature had some sort of hidden mouth and would try and eat the person.

(ooc: I'm fine with prose or action brackets. Hit me up with either.)

[ Megatron doesn't really deal with organics. he's spent four million years conquering and subjugating such races. while the old warlord is somewhat attempting to make amends to his own race, he doesn't necessarily extend that to other races. if anything he just doesn't care about their existence. that makes it a little difficult to deal with them. rather, it's more irksome to deal with them.

but that hardly matters since their little operation here is not what his attention is on. it's Starscream. that's who he is following and it's Megatron so subtle isn't really his forte - not that he cares anyway. that jet is a schemer, no doubt about that. for a scientist, it's apparent that his Starscream is better at the underhanded plotting and politics.

still. Megatron doesn't trust him. all the more reason to keep an optic on him. ]

[Ever feel like you're being watched? Because Starscream certainly did. Though it was rather easy to spot by who considering Megatron stood out like a tank.

Well, he is a tank so ...

Anyway, this Starscream is a plotter and a schemer he's just a bit more blatant about certain things. And more likely to sit back and wait for the right opportunity. And here? He is at a major disadvantage so completely alienating himself from everyone might not be the best idea.

When he spots Megatron, he narrows his gaze before making his way over to the former Decepticon warlord.]

Are you stalking me? It's almost flattering, but you know.

[ a bit more? only a bit more? anyway.

Starscream approaching him is nothing new. it's inevitable and as soon as he had been spotted? Megatron has known the other would draw close. there's a certain magnetism between them that seems to transcend dimensions. ]

Do I really get under your plating that much?

[Starscream snorts and folds his arms across his chest. Why would Megatron even imply that he gets to him?]

No. I just don't like being followed.

Someone has to keep an optic on you, Starscream.

[ because he KNOWS he does. it's like a FACT that no one can get to Starscreams better than Megatrons. ]

Not going to send one of your new pawns out to tail me? I'm actually surprised. I thought you'd jump right back in to manipulating others to do your bidding.

[God. He doesn't need a babysitter. He's not even planning anything ... well nothing dangerous. Yet. He will later once he gets a better handle on what's all going on.

Unless he happens to run across a weapon of mass destruction in the market place. Then? All bets will be off.]

I don't have pawns, you realize. One is a former Decepticon and the other will go on to fail spectacularly at co-commanding our ship.

[ he doesn't like Rodimus okay? frigging brat. ]

Besides... To me this seemed to require a more personal approach.

Glad to know you deem me worth your time and so far no violence has been involved.

[He really doesn't want to know what you do with your own Starscream, Megatron. And don't mind him, he's going to go back to looking at stuff, but before he does ...]

And you always have pawns. Isn't that how it all started?

I could always change that if you so desire.

[ then don't mind him just. you know. following. yes, he is suspicious of all that Starscream does and only a fool would trust him. to think that he won't, eventually, be up to something if the opportunity came about. ]

Not for us, it wasn't. At first I didn't want to lead anything.

[What. Wait. No really what. Starscream pauses in his moving to look back at Megatron and give him a look. The odd sort of look you give someone when they said something that couldn't possibly be true.]

Just one day you got up and thought: gee, I'm going to turn Cybertron into a mobile fortress and take over the universe.

[ he only offers a quirk of lip. amused. ]

I'm afraid our Cybertron could never do such a thing.

[ it's an interesting idea. at a time he would have jumped on that too. such prospects..

but no. no. ]

The reality that violence was the only way to rid ourselves of the corrupted Senate and line of Primes came to me later. It was only after my run in the gladiatorial arena that I started to form the Decepticons.

[Starscream continues his staring and decides not to tell Megatron about the transforming ability their Cybertron seemed to have.

That Starscream got a chance to play with. He doesn't need to know those little details.]

Now that sounds more like the evil dictator I know and love.

Evil dictator, you say?

[ well there is something that he's interested in hearing about. please, oh please elaborate Starscream. ]

I'd say that you should know all about that one, but your little lackey did try and say you weren't the violent type.

[Well. That's not exactly what Drift said but close enough. Though Starscream does turn around fully to look at Megatron.]

Not that I believe anything he was babbling about.

[ who could Starscream even be referring to? ]

Drift or whatever his name is. For an Autobot he certainly tried to stand up for you a lot.

[Which was about as weird as Starscream and Rodimus agreeing with one another.]

That's likely because he wasn't always an Autobot. Other than that he is far too trusting and hopeful for all that he's been through.

He might have mentioned something about that too.

[Starscream stopped paying attention after awhile though.]

But yes. He claimed you were about freedom ...

[Oh that was very hard for Starscream to even say]

Instead of conquest, tyranny and whatnot. Sure freedom to murder and do as we please might have been involved there -- as that was the biggest draw of your speeches.

[ he doesn't say anything while Starscream carries on. his mouth does press into a hard line though...

his goals had been for freedom. TRUE freedom. however his methods at the time shifted from peaceful to brutal. ]

Conquest and tyranny for freedom. I know not what your Megatron preached, but he and I would appear to have had very different goals.

"To exact our vengeance upon the council of ancients ... the clandestine group of elitists who have manipulated our every move since the dawn of Cybertron's creation."

[His gaze drifted into a small smirk, looking directly at Megatron. Might as well quote a Megatron to a Megatron.]

For what purpose, Starscream? To be able to do as you please? To pillage and plunder all that you can? To exert yourselves onto others in the same matter that 'group of elitists' did?

That was never my actual motive.

Yes, all of it. To be free of the rules of society and take what is rightful ours. To no longer be restricted -- caged. To allow the brutal, beast within all of us free and give in to the temptation of the kill!

[He now realizes this might turn into a scene in the market place so he turns to move to another area.

But he does pause briefly to give Megatron another glance first.]

Or at least that's what it was supposed to be. But in the end we were all just pawns for Megatron's own personal quest for control. Was that your actual motive too, I wonder?

[ Megatron is to follow Starscream. it's interesting to hear about an alternate version of himself - to see a different Starscream. on one hand, there are many similarities. on the other... all four of them couldn't be any more different.

yes, Megatron had used people. he hadn't wanted to be restricted either. but nowhere had Megatron himself wanted the lot of them to be free to senselessly murder and conqueror. his conquest for control had only been a means to an end - and that end had originally been to ensure that he created a war so horrible that no one would ever THINK about committing violent or corrupt acts ever again.

[ because Starscream has already proven that. ]

While yes, I ended up creating pawns it was not to control an empire of senseless brutality. However, not everyone fell into that category... Soundwave, Drift, and even yourself I considered to be of value as you were.

[Starscream stops moving at that last part, but only briefly to pause in his thoughts before moving on. He knew Megatron's game of manipulation ... even if this version is ... different.

It is surprising, really. Out of anything Megatron could have said, he hadn't expected that one, but then again ...]

Ah, yes -- value as your personal tools of destruction, hmm?

[Starscream had a hard time imagining Megatron without a sense of brutality -- it's what seemed to drive him. In fact, it was a lingering temptation even Starscream had given into before.]

[ hey. he's going to be honest about himself here. mostly. ]

Yes and no. I reserved such things for my Phase Sixers and the DJD.

[ they are the ones that create havoc and mass destruction. those are tools that he's handcrafted for himself and the war. ]

Soundwave would be tool to no one. His loyalty and special talents meant that he should remain close at hand. Drift holds a certain tenacity along with his assets. While I may have assigned him to Turmoil's command, I kept an optic on his comings and goings. Of course there are others that I made sure to know what they were capable of and assigned them appropriate tasks...

[ but then there's one he's failing to mention... Starscream's importance. hmmm. wonder why! ]
