AUGUST PLOT: A LOVELY TRIP TO PLANET 10952.EG.K
Arrival on EG.K is non-eventful; one will find themselves about a five minute walk away from the closest village on a very flat planet. The purple and turquoise grass waves in the near-constant warm breeze under a rosy pink sky, and while the sun seems far too close to the planet for comfort, the semi-cloudy nature of the planet means one can see far into the distance without squinting constantly.
EG.K is currently a delightful 23.9 degrees in Universal Standard Temperature, dipping down to 15.5 UST at night. Visitors to the planet can expect clear skies and no rain or storms for the week. Occasional winds up 50 MPH are present, but not constant.
Make friends with the locals, take a swim in a lake, actually do whatever it is you came here to begin with - whatever it is, enjoy your week on this charming and uneventful planet!

"It's true. Weather--I mean, like this, all the time--is still new to me." Crystal City had circulated air, and he had his snatches of flight, but nothing like this. Weather, all the time. It was like a miracle. "Maybe we can find some time here now to enjoy it." Maybe?

"It's a nice change, compared to life in space." He's been more fortunate than Wing in that regard but he can still appreciate the change of scenery. "Maybe if we're lucky it'll rain." He wouldn't mind that, watching water slide over the surfaces of Wing's glossy plating.
Wait, what were they supposed to be doing again? Oh right. "Should I gather what I can and meet you back here?"

Just because a path wanders into the shade does not mean it doesn't arrive at its destination. Besides, this change to be with Drift, which he'd not even allowed himself to really imagine, is just a sign that faith rewards its followers, often far beyond what they think they deserve.
"Rain!" He says the word like it's the most exciting thing in the history of words, peering up at the sky, almost hopeful. "That would be wonderful! Real rain!" He laughs. "It'd be like the whole world is a washrack."
Well, now we know what Wing's going to be thinking about....he nods, distractedly. "Shall we say in half an 'hour'?" See? He's learning human time!

Drift laughs; Wing's exuberance is catching. "If I had weather control, I'd make it rain for you right now." And not just to see Wing in an outdoor washrack. Just because seeing the jet happy, being the one to make him so, is something he's dreamed about for ages.
But wow, that was kind of a schmoopey thing to say. His bright smile turns a little shy. "That works for me. I'll be right on time." He wouldn't miss a moment of this, rain or not.

And Drift's laugh is a wonderful thing: Wing hopes he can hear it more. He never heard it in Crystal City--it would have resonated through the very core of the city, if only Drift had....
Oh, there was no need for that sort of thought anymore. And when Drift speaks, it's so...kind and sweet that Wing can't help but close the distance between them, wanting nothing more than to pull the other mech into a hug. "Take your time, my friend. We will take this journey together."

Drift agrees, his world needs more laughter in it. And more Wing. They kind of go together he notices.
And Drift feels it too, almost like a gentle, localized gravity drawing them together. Uncertain if he's wanted but more unwilling to resist, he closes the distance a little further, hands reaching out to give each of Wing's a squeeze. "I'm looking forward to it."
He's rather forgotten about the dire portents that send them out there as of this moment. Not standing here with Wing in the fresh air with sunlight falling on them both like the fuel of freedom.

His engine gives a soft purr, leaning into a hug, offering, and probably revealing how much he'd like one. "This is how it always should have been with us."
no subject
The soft purr of Wing's engines, the inviting warmth of his body so near, so inviting, that's not a dream, nor are the words the jet speaks. Air catches in Drift's vents and he pulls Wing into a hug, an embrace both needy and reverent at the same time, the white helm tucking into the curve of a shoulder with a shivering breath. "Yes," he says, voice staticky and thick with emotion. "....us."

He closes his optics, letting himself breathe in the scent of Drift, his warm engine, the remade body a mix of scents both familiar and new--the kind of new he achingly wants to make familiar. Us, indeed. "You should go," he says, but, at least for a moment, he doesn't move his hands from where they've come to rest around the other's sleek waist.
no subject
"I should. But. We'll have time later, right?" Please just say yes? Call it the first, not the only.
no subject
But he does mean, alas, later.
no subject
"The stars," He flashes a timid grin, "That'll be a first. Something to look forward to."
It's the only way Drift can break away. It feels like he should do more though, the mood wanting for something that he's too shy, too uncertain to attempt, so he gives Wing's arms a squeeze before he goes. "Sooner we get going, the sooner evening comes."
no subject
Don't mind him as he watches you leave, Drift.

And that's not fair Wing, next time they'll have to reverse places so Drift can enjoy the view. Not that he wants to give Wing any reason to walk away from him....
