Who Wing and Starscream

Warnings: none I can think of. Starscream, maybe? 

Wing was one of the engineers who'd helped lay out Crystal City, so it wasn't as though technology was a complete mystery. And he had confidence that given enough time, he could noodle through fixing the convertor he'd found.  The problem was, he didn't really have time. Megatron might have found a supply of energon but that wouldn't last forever.  This...would, if they could get it working. 

So he'd called Starscream, as Megatron had suggested, and was waiting, his set of tools and the broken-down convertor spread out on his hab suite's kitchen table. Between the two of them, they had to be able to find an answer. Collaboration and cooperation, just as it should be among Cybertronians.

Starscream didn't really care for the idea of working with Wing on something. The guy was too ... naive? boring? autobot-like? Whatever. And it annoyed him.

However, he did want to get his hands on a working converter, so he agreed anyway. He still wanted to build his own for personal reasons, but getting a chance to work on one already made and perhaps steal things from was something he couldn't really turn down.

So he turned up at Wing's place and didn't even bother to knock as he let himself in.

In fact, the only warning he gave was after he entered.

"This place is still terribly boring looking."

He's a little startled at the door opening, the pinions of his nacelles flaring in surprise, but he--he hopes--masks it quickly enough. He's bent over the convertor, laid out in pieces, on his kitchen table, peering at one of the gears, cleaning it with a small brush. Because maybe it's not working because it's dirty.

"I'm open to ideas," he says. Both about his interior design and the convertor. "This was about the only Cybertronian thing I spotted in the market, though." He'd been longing for a reminder of home, and it had called to him, almost, from the pile of other junk.

[Wing really shouldn't listen to any advice Starscream may give about decorating because if he had his way, he'd have pictures of himself all over his walls.

But in any case, he makes his way to the table and eyes the various pieces scattered about.]

I expect to have access to this in exchange for helping you.

[He's just going to get that out of the way first thing. And Wing can just keep on cleaning, because there is no way Starscream is doing that.]

Of course. It's for all of us!

[Just like Crystal City--one for all and all for one.]

Have you seen this type before? It's very old, from what I can tell.

[Bless you Wing and your want to see the best in everyone. Starscream is totally going to use this to his advantage.

He circles around Wing and the various parts scattered about.]

Looks different than what I'm used to, but I can't imagine the process of converting energon to be much different across universes.

[He pauses a bit to give Wing a smirk.]

Though you guys are weird so I could be wrong.

[Wing is all about the golden rule. And positivity!]

I would think that chemistry would be the same, in all worlds. I think.

[He'd hope, too.]

The Megatron of your universe is an Autobot, I think that's all that needs to be said.

[Among other things, little tidbits both Drift and Megatron had mentioned during their conversations. The differences and similarities between is interesting.]

I understand that's rather a recent change.

But Drift vouches for him, at least.

[Starscream moves around, picking up various pieces and inspecting them to try and figure out what they do. He'll still leave the cleaning to Wing though.

But maybe he can try and put a few of these things back together.]

And you trust, Drift?

[Wing is carefully laying the cleaned pieces to one side, for Starscream to examine. It was an old machine, crusted with goopy old oil.]

Of course I do. I gave my life for him.

[Well, that gives Starscream a pause. He stops what he's doing to look at Wing with with an odd expression.]

I assume you mean that metaphorically. Since you don't look like a ghost.

[There is another pause.]

And ghosts don't exist.

We were leaving for battle, a battle I knew I would die in.

[It's as simple as that, really, to him.]

If.

They don't exist, how do you know what one looks like?
