( damian, of course, finds the implication very insulting. just because he isn't yet five feet tall, everyone seems to think he's some sort of invalid. it's exactly the kind of ageist behavior that makes most other people wholly unbearable.

it probably doesn't help matters that he puffs up like an angry kitten, shoulders squared and lips pursed before he says, hotly: ) Do I look stuck to you?

I'd rather offer to help someone and find out they don't need it than the other way around.
