... This might seem like a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway. Why would you toss away your most powerful weapon? Is this part of the Autobot goody-goody brainwashing?

[ Megatron stares just as long and hard at Starscream. his faceplates are shifting into that well known scowl that promises pain in the future. ]

What were you hoping to find, inspecting that force field so closely?

[Starscream grimaces at the evil look, but goes back to looking at the force field. He'll get the answers to his questions later.]

I'm looking at the energy readings to see if there is a weak point. Is that a problem, oh glorious one?

The Starscream that I am intimately familiar with is far from the academic type. He preferred politics.

[ sneaky. underhanded. crafty. ah these are the things that he had so liked about Starscream. to start with, anyway. ]

There is a possibility that if you shoot it, it could reflect the blast back at you. But if that's what you want to do ...

Touching it is what bumped me into you, Starscream. I would rather not repeat that experience.

[This is what he assumes is going to happen anyway. Megatron always was more of a brute than actually wanting to go about things the scientific way.

Which is clearly why Starscream should be leader.]

[ ... It's interesting to have Megatron actually doing the manual labor instead of just ordering other people to do it. But anyway.

Starscream approaches and does some visual scans and compares the readings from earlier.]

The energy draws towards the point of the thing that is touching it. So now if you ... theoretically ... touched it as well, it over-all might get weaker.

I am not about to give you the satisfaction you crave, dear Starscream.

[ nah. he's just going to find another boulder. or something large enough that he can slide against another point in the field. ]

Oh, of course not. You wouldn't be you if you ever did what I wanted.

[Or other you. The whole alternate universe thing is just as strange as the Autobot Megatron thing ... though not quite as much. Close though. He watches Megatron like a supervisor who does not feel the need to be of much help.]
