( it's not that he isn't grateful for the save. those blasts look like they'll bite worse than a phaser, and he knows he'll have an even harder time getting out of here if he's injured. but his savior looks to be, for all appearances, a little kid. a kid who's working some kind of magic on the shadows, but a kid nonetheless. and mccoy's pride rebels at the thought.
