AUGUST PLOT: A LOVELY TRIP TO PLANET 10952.EG.K

Arrival on EG.K is non-eventful; one will find themselves about a five minute walk away from the closest village on a very flat planet. The purple and turquoise grass waves in the near-constant warm breeze under a rosy pink sky, and while the sun seems far too close to the planet for comfort, the semi-cloudy nature of the planet means one can see far into the distance without squinting constantly.

EG.K is currently a delightful 23.9 degrees in Universal Standard Temperature, dipping down to 15.5 UST at night. Visitors to the planet can expect clear skies and no rain or storms for the week. Occasional winds up 50 MPH are present, but not constant.

Make friends with the locals, take a swim in a lake, actually do whatever it is you came here to begin with - whatever it is, enjoy your week on this charming and uneventful planet!

"...they weren't Cybertronians, Drift."

Large robots, trained in combat? He figures they must have some advantage.

"We should gather some supplies, first. We can't go off without at least telling others."

"True. Be awfully hard to snatch away several tons of metal amazing. ... And me too, I guess." Yes hello awkward flirting. He saw that in a holovid somewhere but it didn't translate so well here.

He nods, "Right. Who knows how long we'll be gone. We might want to check in with someone periodically in case something happens. But er...supplies?" He's got what little rations he has left and medikits? His is safely stashed in his shuttle...off in some other dimension where he left it.

I apologize I missed this tag

The laugh feels good, cutting through the tension Wing's felt building around him since he found the ruined camp. "I think both of us would be hard prey. And amazing."

"Well, I mean, we don't know what's out there. We need our weapons, and maybe a safe shelter...."

no worries <3!

It feels good for Drift too, just adding some levity to the situation. And the chance to potentially go into battle again with Wing? More thrilling than it probably should be. "You better believe it." The 'hard prey' part. He's just going to smile bashfully at the other part. He doesn't feel too amazing.

Drift nods, "Best be prepared as possible. I have a few rations left. A honing steel too. Maybe the locals here can help us find something useful for shelter?" Of they could just...hurdle together in the dark. Be close. For safety reasons?

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-04 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"We can find something for shelter." He laughs. "Is it funny that I've never been outside civilization like this?" He has no idea what people do. Camping? Sleeping bags? Not a clue.

Wing has such faith that things will just work out, that fate will provide, it buoys up Drift's weighty concern. "Of course. And even if we don't, the elements out here don't seem intolerable."

Drift grins. "Not so strange. The only reason I've had cause to be was thanks to the war, and then I never got to enjoy it." And down in the gutters? Well, did it qualify as camping when you couldn't see the sky?

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-08 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Things will always work out, exactly as intended. So there's no point in worrying. They were brought here for a reason, and Wing knows that reason isn't to die. Fate would not be so cruel to give them a second chance and then snatch it away.

"It's true. Weather--I mean, like this, all the time--is still new to me." Crystal City had circulated air, and he had his snatches of flight, but nothing like this. Weather, all the time. It was like a miracle. "Maybe we can find some time here now to enjoy it." Maybe?

Drift envies Wing's degree of faith. He'd been doing well, but then events like Overlord occur and it's hard, so hard to keep that faith. But, he supposes, if he hadn't been exiled, maybe the gem shard never would have chosen him and he never would have ended up here with Wing. Though that's small comfort to Chromedome and Pipe's friends and the others that were lost...

"It's a nice change, compared to life in space." He's been more fortunate than Wing in that regard but he can still appreciate the change of scenery. "Maybe if we're lucky it'll rain." He wouldn't mind that, watching water slide over the surfaces of Wing's glossy plating.

Wait, what were they supposed to be doing again? Oh right. "Should I gather what I can and meet you back here?"

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-10 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)

Just because a path wanders into the shade does not mean it doesn't arrive at its destination. Besides, this change to be with Drift, which he'd not even allowed himself to really imagine, is just a sign that faith rewards its followers, often far beyond what they think they deserve.

"Rain!" He says the word like it's the most exciting thing in the history of words, peering up at the sky, almost hopeful. "That would be wonderful! Real rain!" He laughs. "It'd be like the whole world is a washrack."

Well, now we know what Wing's going to be thinking about....he nods, distractedly. "Shall we say in half an 'hour'?" See? He's learning human time!

alwaysadrift: (whoever smelt it dealt it)

[personal profile] alwaysadrift 2014-09-15 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
There's a lot of that wandering into the shade in Drift's life. Though when he has to stop and count his blessings, he's glad every time it's not as deep as before. Progress....?? And he hopes, silently, that he's earned a reward too, despite all that. Maybe that's why he's here and not floating in space alone?

Drift laughs; Wing's exuberance is catching. "If I had weather control, I'd make it rain for you right now." And not just to see Wing in an outdoor washrack. Just because seeing the jet happy, being the one to make him so, is something he's dreamed about for ages.

But wow, that was kind of a schmoopey thing to say. His bright smile turns a little shy. "That works for me. I'll be right on time." He wouldn't miss a moment of this, rain or not.

One who has spent time in the shade simply knows the light that much more keenly, Drift.

And Drift's laugh is a wonderful thing: Wing hopes he can hear it more. He never heard it in Crystal City--it would have resonated through the very core of the city, if only Drift had....

Oh, there was no need for that sort of thought anymore. And when Drift speaks, it's so...kind and sweet that Wing can't help but close the distance between them, wanting nothing more than to pull the other mech into a hug. "Take your time, my friend. We will take this journey together."

Yes and it's a little blinding sometimes, though really, he'd have it no other way. Sometimes the world had to be washed clean of a dark perspective like that. And well if that light includes Wing, all the more stunning.

Drift agrees, his world needs more laughter in it. And more Wing. They kind of go together he notices.

And Drift feels it too, almost like a gentle, localized gravity drawing them together. Uncertain if he's wanted but more unwilling to resist, he closes the distance a little further, hands reaching out to give each of Wing's a squeeze. "I'm looking forward to it."

He's rather forgotten about the dire portents that send them out there as of this moment. Not standing here with Wing in the fresh air with sunlight falling on them both like the fuel of freedom.

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-17 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Wing has every intention of hearing that wonderful laugh again and again, if he can help it. It's a sound he would have longed for in Crystal City.

His engine gives a soft purr, leaning into a hug, offering, and probably revealing how much he'd like one. "This is how it always should have been with us."
alwaysadrift: used w/ permission (just a little bit coy)

[personal profile] alwaysadrift 2014-09-17 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
It will be a chorus of laughter, Wing's joining with Drift's in a ways it couldn't have in Crystal City. That's what he hopes for, has dreamed of, for far too long.

The soft purr of Wing's engines, the inviting warmth of his body so near, so inviting, that's not a dream, nor are the words the jet speaks. Air catches in Drift's vents and he pulls Wing into a hug, an embrace both needy and reverent at the same time, the white helm tucking into the curve of a shoulder with a shivering breath. "Yes," he says, voice staticky and thick with emotion. "....us."

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-17 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Time to stop dreaming, then, Drift. Wing might not be laughing right now, as they hug, but it's something else in that category of things he has wished for for far too long.

He closes his optics, letting himself breathe in the scent of Drift, his warm engine, the remade body a mix of scents both familiar and new--the kind of new he achingly wants to make familiar. Us, indeed. "You should go," he says, but, at least for a moment, he doesn't move his hands from where they've come to rest around the other's sleek waist.
alwaysadrift: (so moe)

[personal profile] alwaysadrift 2014-09-22 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Far, far too long. So long in fact, Drift is loathe to break it now, to attend to his duties. His fingers play at the edges of those pockets of charge that lie beneath those wings, aching to touch but far too shy to do so. He's lost in the moment until Wing speaks, and even then the reluctance shows. Finally, he grips down hard on Wing's back, embracing the other close for one fierce moment before tearing himself away, his field even more reluctant than his hands.

"I should. But. We'll have time later, right?" Please just say yes? Call it the first, not the only.

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-23 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Later." He loves this to continue, especially those soft fingers under his flight panels. But there are missing people out there, and it feels a bit...selfish. "I'd love to sit with you under the stars." And not just sit, if you get what he means.

But he does mean, alas, later.
alwaysadrift: (staying positive...no really)

[personal profile] alwaysadrift 2014-09-26 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
The warm affirmative is everything Drift needs. He'll take that and keep it close in lieu of that warmth of Wing;s plating under his hands, the fuzzy tingle of built up charge under the flight panels he longs to be able to touch.

"The stars," He flashes a timid grin, "That'll be a first. Something to look forward to."

It's the only way Drift can break away. It feels like he should do more though, the mood wanting for something that he's too shy, too uncertain to attempt, so he gives Wing's arms a squeeze before he goes. "Sooner we get going, the sooner evening comes."

[personal profile] knightoflight 2014-09-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"And the sooner we have adventure." He winks, stepping back reluctantly. Things he'd just begun to dare to admit to wanting were happening, and he hated letting the opportunity slip through his fingers. It's only the promise that it might continue that allows him to let it go.

Don't mind him as he watches you leave, Drift.

[personal profile] alwaysadrift 2014-09-29 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," he says, looking back one last time before dashing off with an unusually springy step. He's hoping for many kinds of adventure, if he's honest.

And that's not fair Wing, next time they'll have to reverse places so Drift can enjoy the view. Not that he wants to give Wing any reason to walk away from him....
